A Window in the Woods

There's a window in the woods where I peer out through
onto nature's canvas
It's beauty seems to pause my gentle breath
and sets it back in motion
A chandelier of pine cones, hangs lazily on twisted trees
small puzzled sections of vanilla sky edges through
breaking up the muted green
A cluster of brown tasseled needles sway
in rhythm with the mid day breeze
brushing over the first images of sprouting buds
There is a reunion of all who slept through winter
and "I" an invited guest
Below the pane and window sill
a wooden path snakes along the blanket of crumpled leaves
it runs to meet the sand and shore
I lay in quiet ever still
The silence broken only by
the fainted sounds of passing birds, peppering the sky
They carry the banner of spring
as I hearken for its return
I am here upon its arrival
and have chosen a flawless spot
A first time visit
yet I feel at home
in this place of familiar wonder
There is a bond that seems to hit my core
a recognized connection
of a path once traveled on
A simply truth seems now apparent
When the time arrives, and I forced to forsake serene and bliss
I will be beckoned again to connected source
Its divine allure will return me back
to my window in the woods
where I peer out from
